#DVMISSION20 48-Hour Film Challenge: 10 Top Tips – #1

You won’t want to miss our weekly 48-hour film challenge tips, leading up to the CHALLENGE WEEKEND.

Top Tip 1: Preparation is key

You might feel time-pressured, underequipped and maybe even a little nervous, but don’t panic! DVMISSION wants you to turn limitations into opportunities this CHALLENGE WEEKEND.

It’s important to try and not let the practical side of filmmaking overwhelm the creative side. A mechanical, lifeless film isn’t what anyone wants. Be creative, inspired and explore.

As you have the challenge of a limited time to create your film, make sure you take care of production elements that you can control before you shoot. Plan carefully and prepare to try and avoid any unforeseen challenges affecting your shoot. Even down to (the not-so exciting) checking your batteries are charged and paperwork being signed, all elements of preparation are vital to being successful this CHALLENGE WEEKEND. We all know some things are unavoidable and not every shoot will be perfect, so don’t panic!

The video below from The Royal Ocean Film Society has more to say on this:

Below, we have linked a very informative and useful book and accompanying website with example short films, great for filmmakers, students and those looking to develop their talents. It breaks down all you need to know (and more!) to be great this CHALLENGE WEEKEND.
