BFI NETWORK & DVMISSION HOST A SOUTH COAST TALENT MEET UP

BFI NETWORK in partnership with DVMISSION are celebrating local filmmaking and media talent at this talent meetup on Thursday 7th March, 5pm-8pm, at The Portsmouth Room, Guildhall, Portsmouth.

Whether you’re a first-time filmmaker, animator, writer or producer we’re inviting you to come along to meet, chat and share ideas with each other. These informal meet ups are set up with the aim of building and supporting the local filmmaking community, and also to encourage you to collaborate and develop ideas for the two recently announced BFI NETWORK funding strands.

5-6pm BFI NETWORK Funding Strands Q&A

Find out more about the BFI NETWORK funding strands from regional BFI NETWORK Talent Executive, Alice Cabañas. The two funding strands include:

  • Short Film Funding for fiction shorts, in both live action and animation.
  • Early Development funding programme supporting projects with writers based in England.

6-7pm Screening of winning short films by local filmmakers

Featuring winning short films by local filmmakers including award winners from the Making Waves International Film Festival, Shorts Cut/Guide Awards, Southampton Film Week and BFI NETWORK this will be a celebration of the great talent in the region and an opportunity for an announcement about future collaborations.

DVMISSION 48 Hour Film Challenge:The UK’s longest continuously running 48 Hour Film Challenge now in its 13th edition.

BFI NETWORK: supports new writers, directors and producers from across the UK.

City Eye/Southampton Film Week: exists to inspire and promote film and digital culture in the region and is supported by Southampton City Council.

Shorts Cut/Guide Awards: promotes interests in film exhibition and education in the Portsmouth region staging screenings in diverse locations and engaging with new audiences.

Making Waves International Film Festival: supports and exhibits pioneering work by international talent and local independent filmmakers and offers opportunities to develop skills in filmmaking, distribution and events.
