City Eye is excited to announce that plans are underway for the next edition of the DVMISSION 48 Hour Film Challenge, taking place in early 2027.
Key dates for your diary:
- November 10 2026
- FilmFreeway entries open, with places available for up to 30 teams.
- Tuesday 12 January 2027
- Official launch event and team-building opportunity at the City Eye Film Network in Southampton.
- Friday 26 – Sunday 28 February 2027
- The DVMISSION 48 Hour Film Challenge weekend, running from 5pm Friday to 5pm Sunday.
- Saturday 13 March 2027
- Screening and Awards Ceremony at The Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth.
The challenge itself will follow the familiar DVMISSION format, with teams given just 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a short film incorporating a set of secret obstructions revealed at the start of the weekend.
This year, there is an important change to the DVMISSION schedule. The screening and awards ceremony will take place two weeks after the challenge weekend, rather than the usual one week later. The new date of Saturday 13 March has been chosen to avoid a clash with Mother’s Day and other scheduling complications.
We’re delighted that the screening and awards will return once again to The Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth, and hope participants will join us for another entertaining evening celebrating the creativity, ingenuity and filmmaking talent that makes DVMISSION so special.
With places limited to 30 teams, filmmakers are encouraged to keep an eye out for the FilmFreeway launch in November.
More details about registration, the launch event and the 2027 challenge will be announced in the coming months.
