DVMISSION 48 Hour Film Challenge invites you to celebrate its 21st edition and the centenary of Portsmouth City at the cove of Tortuga (a.k.a. The Wedgewood Rooms), for a night of nautical naughtiness where distinguished sailors and plundering pirates are welcome aboard.
Enjoy live music from The Captain’s Beard throughout the evening and from 11pm until 12:30, experience DJ Abbi Scott, “Goddess of Rhythm,” at the iconic Edge of the Wedge.
This year, teams will be competing for 1 of 16 pieces of 8 – the stunning new awards crafted by James Waterfield, Lawn of the Dead. Will ye be worthy?
With plenty of extra surprises in store, it’s set to be an unforgettable night for all who attend. We can’t wait to welcome you aboard — AVAST! ⚓
The 2026 Obstructions:
Title: Pirates! In an adventure with… [YOUR CHOICE]
Genre: Adventure
Dialogue 1:
“From the north end to the south sea, hear them cry: POMPEY 100!”
Dialogue 2:
“That is classic, that is. Classic pirate behaviour.”
(You should use both lines of dialogue in the film).
Obstruction for previous winners: You must include a ship’s figurehead.
We will also continue to acknowledge any film that passes the Bechdel Test!
Reminder: Your film must be no longer than 2 minutes in duration (including titles and credits).
